The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the 2021 book-style foldable. Closed, it is a tall phone with a 6.2-inch cover screen. Open, it is a 7.6-inch inner display with a crease you can feel. It was the first Galaxy Fold with an IPX8 water-resistance rating and the first in the line to support a special S Pen. Black Friday listings in 2026 still use the words Z Fold loosely. Fold 4, Fold 5, Fold 6, and later books are different phones. The Flip line folds the other way and is not this product. This page is the Z Fold 3.

The inner screen is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 120 Hz. The cover screen is 6.2 inches, also 120 Hz. The chip in the US models is Snapdragon 888. Storage and RAM configurations were sold in more than one tier. Read both numbers. There is no microSD slot. The rear cameras are three 12-megapixel lenses. The cover screen has its own front camera. The inner screen uses an under-display camera, which is why a small window in the top of the open display looks different from a punch-hole. If the inner camera is a obvious hole, look again at the generation.

IPX8 on a foldable was a big deal in 2021 and it is still a conditional rating. It applied to the phone when it was new, with intact seals. A Fold that has been opened for a screen repair may not keep that rating. The hinge is a wear item. A used listing should say whether the hinge is tight, whether the inner screen has dead pixels along the crease, and whether a screen protector is still on the inner panel. Samsung shipped a protector on that inner glass. Peeling it off because it looks like retail film is a known way to damage this generation. Leave it on unless Samsung’s own instructions for your unit say otherwise.

The S Pen for this phone is the Fold Edition. There is no slot in the phone. A normal Galaxy S Pen from an Ultra phone is not the one you should press into this inner screen. If the listing includes a pen, it should name the Fold Edition. If it does not include a pen, the phone is still a complete Z Fold 3. The pen was always an accessory.

Colors were Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver. The model family is SM-F926, with region letters after it. Later Folds use different F-numbers. A title that says Z Fold 3 and a spec sheet that says Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Gen 3 is a later phone. Trust the model number over the headline.

Day to day, the cover screen is the phone and the inner screen is the tablet. You will type on the cover more often than you expect, because opening the hinge for a short message gets old. The inner screen is for reading, for two apps at once, and for video. The crease is visible at an angle and easy to forget when the panel is on. A tempered-glass protector meant for a normal phone does not belong on that inner panel. Use the protector Samsung fitted, or a Fold 3 inner protector made for this model, if you replace it at all.

Cases have a hinge cutout. A case that covers the hinge and forces it is a bad idea. The phone is heavy next to a candy-bar phone from the same year. Pocket it as a small book, not as a thin slab. If that shape does not appeal when the phone is closed in your hand, a later Flip or a normal Galaxy is a better search.

Who it is for, years later, is someone who wants this specific book-shaped phone and accepts 2021 performance and a hinge with history. Who should not treat it as a substitute is someone shopping a newer Fold for the brighter screen and the thinner hinge of a later year. Those are real improvements in later models. They are not features you can read backward onto a Fold 3 listing. Black Friday is when a seller calls a Fold 3 a “Fold” and hopes the number is a detail. The number is the product.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 Black Friday Deals 2026: What to Confirm Before You Buy

Confirm SM-F926, the inner screen condition, and the hinge.

Ask for a photo of the open display on a light wallpaper, taken straight on, so the crease and any spots are visible. Ask for a short video of the hinge opening and closing. A listing that refuses both on a used foldable is a listing to leave. Renewed programs should state their grade in writing and should say whether the inner protector is intact.

Unlocked versus carrier is the same question as on any phone. Activation lock and a Samsung account still signed in will brick the setup. The seller resets it before shipping, or you use the return window when it arrives. Battery health matters on a phone from 2021. The original pack is 4,400 mAh. That number is not a measurement of the cell in the unit you receive. Ask what the seller knows.

Black Friday accessories include hinge brushes, cases that only fit the Fold 3’s camera cut, and S Pens that do not. A case for a Fold 4 does not fit a Fold 3. The camera plateau changed. Match the case to F926 or to the words Fold 3, not to “Z Fold case.”

When it arrives, open it before you install accounts if the return window is short. Check both screens, the hinge, the cameras, and the under-display camera area. Set it up only when you are willing to keep it. Inner-screen repairs on this generation are expensive relative to the age of the phone. That is the risk you are accepting, and it should be obvious before checkout, not after.

The Z Fold 3 is a 7.6-inch folding phone, model family SM-F926, with a 6.2-inch cover, IPX8 when it was new, and optional Fold Edition pen support. Black Friday does not turn it into a Fold 5. Match the 3, then judge the hinge you were shown.
